Prepare
Your Web Site
After
you've found your targeted keywords, description, and title
and finalized all information, you're ready
to make the final changes to your site.
Before Submitting...
Make
changes that will allow people to easily navigate your
site. Use colors that please the eye and convince them to
stay around and browse. Simple black text on a white
background works well.
Three
big no's:
-
Don't
submit pages that have http-equiv="refresh"
tags (redirect). Most robot-driven engines won't list
them.
-
Don't
submit pages that don't have any text and all images.
Text keyword density is very important. Even if the
images all have alt tags, you still need at least a 250
character description with your keywords in the
<body>.
-
Don't
submit frames, many robot-driven engines have problems
indexing frames (notably HotBot), submit the main page
in the frame. Make sure you have text and links to the
other pages in your site on this main page, because
users won't see the navigation frame that most frame
sites have.
META
Tag Alterations
You
will have to input META Tags which are hidden in the html.
You can't see META Tags while looking at your site, but
the major search engine robots use them to determine
relevancy and placement.
META
Tags are NOT the magic bullet that make or break your web
site's placement. META Tags are only a small factor search
engine robots look at to determine placement.
If
you're not sure how to alter your META Tags, use our META
Tag Generator, which will create META Tags
for you.
